Theme: Cooperatives Advancing Social Responsibility for the 2030 Agenda

Objective
- Bring together cooperatives in the Asia Pacific region for mutual exchange and peer learning to promote accelerated actions for progress in Sustainable Development
- Launch a series of discussions that will seek to promote multi-stakeholder collaboration for Sustainable Development in the Philippines and beyond
- Address a wide range of research topics from different scientific fields and traditions including corporate social responsibility, creating shared value, stakeholder engagement, elderly care, digital platforms etc.

Chairperson: Dr. Yashavantha Dongre Nominated by Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society, India. Dr. Yashavantha Dongre serves as the Vice-Chancellor of Chanakya University, India. Currently, he is a Visiting Professor in the College of Policy Science, Ritsumeikan University in Osaka, Japan. He has authored and edited several books and papers on cooperatives in the Asia-Pacific region, more recently “Waking the Asian Pacific Cooperative Potential” published by Elsevier, and “Cooperatives and Social Innovation in Asia and the Pacific” published by Springer. He also serves as Honorary Chair of Social Business Academic Network (India chapter) which was initiated by Nobel laureate Prof. Muhammed Yunus. | |
Dr. Morris Altman is Chair Professor of Behavioral and Institutional Economics and Co-operatives and Dean at University of Dundee School of Business, Scotland, United Kingdom. He was Dean of and Professor at the Newcastle Business School in Australia and was Head of Economics and Finance and Professor at Victoria University of Wellington. He is an Emeritus Professor at the University of Saskatchewan, Canada, where he was elected Head of Economics for close to 20 years. He earned his PhD in economics from McGill University in 1984. Morris has published well over 120 refereed papers and given over 200 international academic presentations and has published 18 books in economic theory, co-operatives, ethics, and public policy. | |
Dr. Raul Roland Sebastian is Dean of the College of Social Sciences and Development (CSSD), PUP. He earlier served as Chairperson of the Department of History, Chief of the Centre for Peace and Poverty Alleviation Studies and Director of the Institute for Human and Social Development (IHSD). Besides teaching History in the undergraduate level, he teaches Public Administration at the Graduate School where he concurrently serves as the Chairperson of the Doctor in Public Administration Program. | |
Dr. Sidsel Grimstad is a Senior Lecturer at the Griffith Centre for Systems Innovation (formerly The Yunus Centre) at the Griffith Business School in Griffith University, Australia. She has a B.Sc. in Agriculture from University of Agriculture (NMBU), Norway. Her working experience is with the Norwegian environmental public sector, United Nations Fund for Agricultural Development and the NMBU Centre for Environment and Development studies. She completed an MBA and PhD (2013) on Collaborative Business Models for Sustainability. She convened Australia’s only online degree on Cooperative Management and Organisation (2016-20). | |
Dr. Ahyoung Kim is the Director of iCOOP Cooperative Institute with a Ph.D. in Business Administration at Sungkonghoe University of Rep. of Korea. The title of her doctoral thesis was “Human-Centred HRD and Communities of Practice of Co-operatives: The Case Study of iCOOP Korea." She also serves as a director of the Korean Society for Cooperative Studies. She is involved in the Korean Association of Human Resource Development. Her recent research mainly concerns innovative cooperative development and the human resource development of social economy and cooperative. | |
Akira Kurimoto is a senior fellow of the Japan Cooperative Alliance. He was a professor of cooperative programs at the Institute for Solidarity-based Society at Hosei University, Tokyo from 2015-20 and manager of the Japanese Consumer Co-operative Union from 1990-03. He has served as the board member/chief researcher of the Consumer Cooperative Institute in Japan since 1998. Mr. Kurimoto has also served as the Vice President of the Japanese Society for Cooperative Studies and the general secretary of the Robert Owen Association. He is a founding member of the Asia Pacific Cooperative Research Partnership which published a volume “Waking the Asian Pacific Cooperative Potential” in 2020. | |
Camilla Carabini Coordinator of the Young Scholar Program within the International Cooperative Alliance Committee on Cooperative Research. The Program aims at fostering and strengthening the relationships among early career researchers working in the area of cooperative studies. The mandate include the organization of the Young Scholar Programs at the Global and Regional ICA-CCR Conferences in Europe, Asia-Pacific, Africa, and America. | |
Niño D. Naldoza an Associate professor and the current Director of Institute of Knowledge Management at Philippine Normal University – Manila and a fulltime Online Faculty Member under the College of Flexible Learning and ePNU. He is a certified Knowledge Management Practitioner. He is currently serving as part time faculty in the College of Education - PFD for Professional Education courses. His subject expertise are on Educational Management and Technology, Biological Sciences and Flexible Learning Education. He has been part of some of the projects and activities of SEAMEO INNOTECH for Educational Practices and Massive Open Online Courses. |
