The ICA-AP Committee on Co-operative Research is organizing the 13th ICA-AP Regional Co-operative Research Conference to promote collaboration and network of co-operative researches who have very limited opportunities to share ideas with counterparts in the region. The main theme is Co-operatives contribute to more sustainable and resilient societies. The conference is expected to feature thematic papers from research scholars, practicing co-operators, policy makers, international development agencies, and representatives of governments.

Dr. Yashvantha Dongre


Dr. T. Paranjothi, Vice-Chair of the ICA-AP Committee on Co-operative Research is presently the Director of Agricultural Co-operative Staff Training Institute, Trivandrum. He started his career in Kerala Agricultural University in 1981 and served as Assistant Professor till 1993. Thereafter he joined National Council for Co-operative Training (NCCT) and went on to serve as Secretary from 2006-11. He then joined Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management as Professor heading the Center for Research and Publication and Center for Management Education. He has a number of publications to his credit and undertaken a number of Research and Consultancy Projects. His areas of interest are Co-operation, Rural Credit and Co-operative Law.


Dr. Yashavantha Dongre started his career in 1982 at Mangalore University and is currently serving as Director, Planning Monitoring and Evaluation Board at University of Mysore. He served as Director at Post Graduate Centre, Hassan; Registrar at Vijayanagara Srikrishnadevaraya University, Bellary, Dean of Commerce and Acting Vice-Chancellor at the University of Mysore. He also served as a Consultant to the High-Powered Committee on Co-operatives set up by the Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India; the recommendations of which led to the 97th Constitutional Amendment in 2012. He is also serving as the Co-Secretary of ICA Committee on Campus Co-operatives in Asia and Pacific and Co-convener of Asia Pacific Co-operative Research Partnership.

Ms. Jihyun Jeong is a student in master’s course in Co-operative Management Department of Sungkonghoe University in Seoul, South Korea and currently developing research on consumer co-operatives in Korea in relation to issues of Fair Trade. His main research work focuses on Banking Technology Management, Rural Banking, Cooperatives, Big Data Analytics, IoT and Artificial Intelligence based education.


Ms. Rahmathbee Zarinatun Binti Mohd Abdul Kader is a Senior Training Officer at the Co-operative College of Malaysia. She graduated from MARA University of Technology Shah Alam, Malaysia and her highest education is Master of Laws LLM Corporate. She had served 12 years at Co-operative College of Malaysia from 2006-2018. She is the Co-ordinator for International Programs and was attached Co-operative Administration and Legal Centre, International & Higher Education Centre, International & Corporate Communications Centre, International & Policy Centre & International & Collaboration Centre. She is also a member of the Women & Islamic Employee Welfare Association.

Dr. C. Pitchai, Professor in the Department of Cooperation, School of Management Studies, Gandhigram Rural Institute-Deemed University, Gandhigram is an Cooperative Management, MBA, Ph.D. He underwent Faculty Development Programme in Management at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. He worked in the National Council for Cooperative Training for 20 years. Dr. Pitchai has worked as Assistant Professor at Mekelle University, Ethiopia for two years. During his stay, he was instrumental in designing and launching M.Sc. in Cooperative Marketing, first of its kind in the country.


Ms. Bo Young OH is master’s student of co-operatives management at Sungkonghoe University. Her research focuses on organizational change, processual approach, Korean consumer co-operatives, and qualitative research. She is interested in extending her field of research in the social and solidarity economy, community and gender. She is also a member of CooPY, researcher co-operatives made up of students and professors of co-operative management of Sungkonghoe University. She is currently working on publication and translation of the researches of Korean consumer co-operatives.


Ms. Shefali Pardeshi is an alumnus of University of Greenwich, London, UK (MSc Business and Financial Economics, 2015) and Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (M.A in Agri-Business Economics, 2014 with expertise in research and complex data analyzing related to the field of Economics. She is currently working as a visiting faculty and research scholar in Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics. Her work involves Research in the field of Economics and Co-operatives, Data Analysis using Econometrics Software and Academic Writing. She is also an associate of Pranali Initiatives - a not for profit organization enabling people to design sustainable systems.


Ms. Meena Pokhrel is a Senior Program Manager, Nepal Agricultural Cooperative Central Federation Limited (NACCFL). She has more than 20 years of experience in project planning, management, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of agriculture, energy, value chain and agro cooperative, organizational and system development, livelihoods improvement; gender and social inclusion. She holds a master's degree in Botany from Tribhuvan University, Nepal and another in Environmental Science and Technology from, IHE Delft the Netherlands and Sustainable ecosystem management from, Brown University USA.


Dr. G. Parameshwari is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Commerce, PES College of Science Arts and Commerce, Mandya, Karnataka, India.  She has 16 years of teaching experience both at the undergraduate and post graduate level. Her area of interest is Human Resource Management, Third Sector Research, Entrepreneurship Development, Research Methodology and Business Statistics and has published various research articles in national and international journals and presented more than 25 research articles at national and state level conferences.

Mr. Neem Lal Pandey, working as agriculture expert at Nepal Agriculture Cooperative Central Federation Ltd. (NACCFL) for 2 years is graduate in Agricultural Science with specialization in Plant Production System. He has six years of experience in agricultural development and research field with expertise in tasks such as crop management and fertilization, disease and pest control, crop calendar and cropping pattern formulation and field cultivation.

Dr. S.V. Akilandeeswari, is a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Department of Cooperation, Gandhigram Rural University with the fellowship from ICSSR, New Delhi. She completed her M.B.A., from Anna University, M.Phil., from Madurai Kamaraj University in Management and completed her Ph.D. from Gandhigram Rural Institute-Deemed University. Her specialized area in research is handicraft Industry. She was awarded ICSSR Fellowship for carrying out her Ph.D. research.
